19 July 13: It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of James Beale, DFC, a WW11 veteran passed away on July 19th. A Legion/413 Wing service will be held at 1.30 pm on Tuesday, July 23rd at Weavers West funeral home (170 Dundas St West, Trenton), followed by the funeral at Mount Zion cemetery. Visitations are Monday from 6 to 8 pm, and Tuesday from 12.30 to 1.30.

26 September 13: It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Riseley, Christopher Leonard “Bud” – peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2013, after a short illness, at QHC- Belleville General Hospital in his 90th year. Son of the late Christopher and Alice Riseley. Beloved husband of the late Jessie (nee McMurtrie). Loving father of Carol and Allan (Coleen) both of Toronto. Cherished grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Marjorie Chatterton of Perth, Ralph Riseley of Belleville and Connie (Roy) Harwood of Brighton. The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West(613-968-2273) on Monday, September 30th, 2013 from 1:00 to 2:00 with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the BGH-ICU unit for their excellent care and compassion. If desired, Memorial Donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family.

19 November 2013: It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of C.T. “Chuck” Hall at the Kingston General Hospital on the 19 Nov 2013. A private family service will be held. Cremation with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery Brighton. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Wounded Warriors Canada, would be appreciated by the family. We extend our deepest sympathy to Irene and her family at this time of loss.

20 December 2013: Retirement , WO Marc Kovacic

Biography: WO MARC KOVACIC

After 37 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Forces and Royal Canadian Air Force, WO Marc Kovacic will be retiring from the Reg Force on the 8 Jan 14 following a successful and rewarding career.

WO Marc Kovacic joined the CF on 26 Jan 1977. His began his career as an Aero Engine Tech at CFB Comox on Jun 1978, were he joined the 409 All Weather Fighter Sqn, working on the CF 101 Voodoo and the T33 Silver Star aircrafts. Transferred in summer of 82, he joined the BAMEO organization working on the CC 130 Hercules and CC-137 Boeing. After a total of eight years as a technician, he remustered to the Flight Engineer trade in 1986. Following his Basic Flt Engr Course he was sent to 403 TAC HEL Sqn flying on the CH-135 Twin Huey. During this tour he completed two six months rotation with the Peace Keeping Force MFO (Multinational Force and Observers) in the Sinai. In 1990 he was transferred to CFB Trenton with 429 Sqn on the CC 130 Hercules and was promoted to Sergeant. During his tour with 429 Sqn, he went on the following tours: Ops Preserve (Ethiopia) Ops Relief (Kenya) and Ops Scotch (Rwanda) and Ops alliance (Split).

In 1996 he moved to 426 (T) Sqn where he instructed the Basic Flight Engineer course for two years. Promoted to WO in 1998 he moved to the CC130 simulator as the Chief Flight Engr Instructor. In Aug 2002 he was transferred to 427 TAC Sqn / 427 SOA on the CH-146 Griffon Sqn as a Flight WO completing a five year tour. In 2007 he returned to CFB Trenton with 436 Sqn back on the CC 130 Hercules where his completed one rotation with Ops Athena in Afghanistan. Posted to 424 T&R Sqn in Jan 2010, he was the Herc FE Lead until Aug 2013 with the arrival of his replacement.

Marc and his lovely wife Sharon will be remaining in the Belleville area and they plan to travel throughout Europe during his retirement.
