Comments: Hi to all retired Yukon FE\’s: I am not an X FE ,but was involved with Yukon maintenance from beginning to the end of their service in the RCAF/CAF. I have been looking for a Desk Model of the Yukon for many years. In my search for one I have been in contact with the Ottawa and Trenton Museums, always chiding them for their lack of recognition of the roll played by the Yukon in development of the Air Transport System of the Canadian Forces ,their response has always been, no one is interested in the Yukon.
This past Christmas, Santa brought me a Desk Model of Yukon 15923, it’s a 1/72 scale ,although, not perfect, it is very nice. I had been told all along that no models were ever made ,so, after receiving one, I traced the source of supply to a Dealer in Waterloo, Ontario .For anyone interested, the suppliers Web Site is : www.aeroartandmodels.com or phone Bob Montagano,1-866-202-1252. Strange as it may seem, the Gift Shop in the Trenton Museum are aware of the availability of this model, but refuse to stock it, always saying, there is no market for it.
I have spoken to Geoff Brogden about this and passed it on to you, in the event that others in the group are interested. I know the Museum will do nothing unless they are prodded by enough Yukon enthusiasts to stir them into action. Thanks for listening. Art Kendall, (retired Yukon maintainer) 780-458-3380, StAlbert.AB

01 Apr 2011: ANNUAL CMFEA MEMBERSHIP DRAW
On behalf of the CMFEA executive and all the members
I wish to thank JAMES STEWART for donating the $100.00 that he won in our annual draw.
THANK YOU JAMES!
The Flight Engineer trade became official on the 01 Apr 1959
For the past several years to celebrate the anniversary of the RCAF and the Flight Engineer trade, we gather at 413 RCAF Wing in Trenton.
To promote membership and encourage Flight Engineers to pay their membership dues ,we hold a membership draw on the anniversary of the RCAF and the Flight Engineer Trade. Only paid up members on or before 01 April are included in the draw. For members who pay annual dues – they receive a LIFE MEMBERSHIP.
Flight Engineers, who are already life members receive a cheque for $100.00. This year at 413 Wing Trenton COL D. COCHRANE, Wing Commander of 8 Wing Trenton, pulled a number that belonged to JAMES STEWART of Edmonton .
James is a life member of CMFEA and I had prepared a cheque to mail to him and just wanted to verify his mailing address. Unable to contact James via phone , I emailed John Scoffin. John answered back with all the info and also passed the news of the draw to James Stewart .
James immediately called me and stated he wanted to donate the $100.00 to the CMFEA .
So all members of the CMFEA owe James Stewart a vote of thanks.
Thank you.
Ray McIntosh Treasure CMFEA

REINSTATEMENT OF ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE
1. IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE I TELL YOU TODAY THAT THE HISTORICAL
DESIGNATION QUOTE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE (RCAF) UNQUOTE IS ONCE
AGAIN THE OFFICIAL NAME FOR CANADA’S AIR FORCE, REPLACING THE
DESIGNATION AIR COMMAND
2. THE MINISTER OF NATIONAL DEFENCE IS EXPECTED TO MAKE THE
ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW IN HALIFAX. THE NAMES ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY
(RCN) AND CANADIAN ARMY (CA) ARE ALSO BEING REINTRODUCED FOR
MARITIME COMMAND AND LAND FORCE COMMAND, RESPECTIVELY
3. PLEASE JOIN ME IN CELEBRATION OF THIS HISTORIC EVENT, WHICH
RECOGNIZES AND HONOURS OUR MILITARY HISTORY AND HERITAGE, AND PAYS
TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE US. ONCE THE ANNOUNCEMENT IS
MADE, YOU CAN PROUDLY SAY YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR
FORCE
4. THE HISTORIC NAMES OF THE THREE SERVICES ARE THOSE UNDER WHICH
CANADIANS FOUGHT AND DIED DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR AND THE KOREAN
CONFLICT, CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEFENCE OF EUROPE AND NORTH AMERICA
DURING THE EARLY DAYS OF THE COLD WAR, AND PAVED THE WAY IN
INTERNATIONAL PEACEKEEPING MISSIONS. THEY ALSO CONTINUE TO BE THE
COMMEMORATIVE NAMES BY WHICH MOST CANADIANS, AND INDEED MANY OF OUR
SERVICE PERSONNEL, IDENTIFY WITH THE THREE SERVICES
5. OUR AIR FORCE FIRST BECAME THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE ON 1
APRIL 1924, WHICH WE STILL CELEBRATE AS OUR OFFICIAL ANNIVERSARY.
WITH THE UNIFICATION OF THE FORCES IN 1968, THE NAVY BECAME MARITIME
COMMAND AND THE ARMY BECAME MOBILE COMMAND (LATER LAND FORCE
COMMAND). HOWEVER, FUNCTIONAL CONTROL OF AIR ASSETS WAS ALLOCATED TO
VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS UNTIL THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AIR COMMAND IN
1975, WHICH AGAIN BROUGHT CF AIR ASSETS UNDER A SINGLE COMMAND
STRUCTURE
6. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THIS DOES NOT REPRESENT A DIVERGENCE
FROM THE UNIFICATION OF OUR CANADIAN FORCES. WE CONTINUE TO BE A
TRI-SERVICE, UNIFIED FORCE WITH NO CHANGE TO OUR ORGANIZATION
7. ALL CURRENT AIR COMMAND ORDERS (ACOS), DIRECTIVES, RULES,
INSTRUCTIONS OR SIMILAR INSTRUMENTS REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT
UNTIL AMENDED TO REFLECT THE NAME CHANGE OF THE COMMAND. ALL
REFERENCES TO AIRCOM SHALL BE READ AS READING ROYAL CANADIAN AIR
FORCE EFFECTIVE UPON RECEIPT OF THIS MESSAGE
8. THE REINTRODUCTION OF THE RCAF AS OUR OFFICIAL NAME WILL BE
CARRIED OUT IN A PHASED APPROACH, AND WILL HAVE NO IMPACT ON OUR
CAPABILITIES, RANK STRUCTURES OR RANK INSIGNIA, COMMAND RELATIONS,
ORGANIZATION OR OPERATIONS. OVER THE COMING MONTHS, WE WILL,
HOWEVER, MAKE NECESSARY CHANGES TO DOCUMENTATION AND STAFF TITLES,
AS WELL AS BRANDING AND WEBSITES, AND ADJUST THE CURRENT INSIGNIA,
MOTTO AND COLOURS (WHICH WERE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR AIR COMMAND)
9. AS WE MOVE FORWARD, I WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED OF FURTHER
DEVELOPMENTS
10. LIEUTENANT-GENERAL J.P.A. DESCHAMPS, COMMANDER ROYAL CANADIAN
AIR FORCE, SENDS END OF ENGLISH TEXT/DEBUT DE TEXTE FRANCAIS
